Hermione groaned inwardly. It was awkward enough that she, Ron and Harry were playing Wizard Cluedo with Ginny (and that she had reconfigured the board into Hogwarts’ layout), but then Draco and Pansy joined. They claimed post-finals boredom. She personally didn't mind, but every turn, Ron tried to accuse either Draco's character or Pansy's character of the murder, even though Draco did help partially with taking down Voldemort the previous year.
“This is boring,” Ron commented, “It needs more action.”
“Like that Wizards Chess in first year?” Harry inquired. Ron nodded and glanced at Hermione. She studied the board a moment and sighed.
“Fine. I’ll charm the board... but we have to take this somewhere it’ll have enough room.”
“The Great Hall?” Ron suggested.
"No, too many people there," Ginny added, "The lawn by the lake?"
"No, it's too cold to be out there," Pansy frowned. They sat in silence for a moment, pondering.
"I know! The room of requirement!" Harry offered. Ron's eyes lit up.
"It's perfect!"
Hermione nodded thoughtfully and picked up the board game and they headed to the classroom door, following Harry up to the seventh floor hall. They watched him walk past the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy three times and the door appear. He turned to them and grinned. Hermione returned the grin back and opened the door.
The room transformed into an area large enough to hold Quidditch practice in, they thought. It's hard to tell when the room was a life-sized Cluedo board.
“This is pretty sweet,” Pansy accessed. The others nodded in silent agreement. They were standing about a yard off one of the starting squares. It appeared they were standing next to the Great Hall. To their left was the Astronomy Tower, just ahead of that, the Library. The rooms of the board looked just like the real rooms, but on a slightly smaller scale. The Great Hall was large enough to hold the six of them, but not everyone in the school.
They shuffled over to the nearest beginning square, sorted out the turn order, and started a new game. Thankfully the dice were not super sized. They were enchanted to fly to the next player when each turn was over. And instead of giant cards, there were small dolls of the Professors. The weapons were all real props.
Hermione lost track of where everyone was as she moved around the board herself. She started near the Astronomy Tower and worked her way around to the door. She used the public address located near the door to call out her suggestion - Pansy, in the Astronomy Tower, with the wand, across the board. She waited patiently as the dice hovered near her hand until a small black bag landed neatly next to her feet. She opened the bag to find the wand in the bag. It flew from her hands, returning the wand to its owner.
The game continued smoothly as they tried to figure out who was murdered. Hermione rolled her eyes every time Draco accused Harry, and Ron accused Draco or Pansy, still grudgingly continuing the house hatred.
The lazy Sunday hours passed quickly as they moved about the room, gathering evidence and sending accusations flying.
Ginny guessed correctly in the end. It was Hermione herself who killed Professor Trelawney, in the Tower, with the potion flask. Ron guffawed as the walls of the fake rooms faded into nothing at the right answer, and they could all see each other scattered about the room.
"It figures. You never did like Divination," he pointed out as they headed towards the door, ready for the end of term feast.
